Ogunbodede (Ogun) is a named collector Trichocereus clone, offered here as a fresh, grower-direct cutting from our California nursery. Sought after for its columnar San Pedro form and collector pedigree, it makes a striking ornamental addition to pots, beds, and cactus gardens. Cut to Order: this Trichocereus cutting is taken from the mother plant after you order, then dried and callused here on the farm for about two weeks before it ships. Care: give it bright light, a fast-draining mix, and only occasional, sparing water.

The story behind Ogunbodede (Ogun)

Ogun travelled the way most named pachanoi travels: hand to hand between collectors, the label sticking long before anyone thought to write down where it started. We are not going to invent a chain of custody for it. What we can account for is our end of the story. It has been in our ground long enough to have earned its own row, and every cutting we list comes off mother stock we raised ourselves rather than material bought in and flipped the same week.

As a pachanoi it does what people actually want a pachanoi to do: it climbs, it fills a corner of the yard, and it forgives a beginner's watering habits far better than the fussier collector species will. Grown outdoors here in full California sun, the stems come up firm and well coloured instead of the soft pale green you get under cover. The name stays what the community calls it, which is collector convention and not a botanical designation, and we say so plainly because clone identities in this hobby tangle quickly and nobody wins by pretending otherwise. When the mother plants have rested enough to cut again, the drop list hears about it before the shop page does.
